Rescued Canines & Disaster Response Teams Partner to Save Lives

Once again Hurricane Season is upon us in the Lowcountry; having been spared for so many years, yet witnessing recent natural disasters throughout our country, the Bedminster Group is making our June animal welfare donation to the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation (SDF).

The Search Dog Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Ojai, California. Their mission is to strengthen disaster response in America by recruiting rescued dogs and partnering them with firefighters and other first responders to find survivors in the wreckage of disasters.

At no cost to fire departments, the Search Dog Foundation (SDF) offers professionally trained canines and an ongoing training program. A highlight of the foundation - lifetime care is ensured for every dog in the program. Once rescued, these dogs never need to be rescued again.

Currently there are 72 SDF-trained Search Teams between California, Florida, Nebraska, New York, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah. Thanks to mutual aid agreements between counties, cities and states, these life-saving resources can be shared regionally and nationally making sure that when disaster strikes, no one is left behind.
